Microsoft Virtual Miniport Adapter Driver

-->

NDIS uses a software object called a miniport adapter to represent each virtual or physical network device in the system. This object is maintained by NDIS and is opaque to the miniport driver and to protocol drivers. NDIS passes a handle to this structure to the miniport driver's MiniportInitializeEx function. The miniport driver subsequently supplies this handle in all calls to NdisXxx functions that pertain to the miniport adapter that the handle specifies.

In the list of hardware categories, find and expand the Network Adapters and select the device driver for Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter that you want to update, and then double-click the device name. Also When i had checked before in network connections it showed a Microsoft Virtual Wireless Network connection and driver installed is Microsoft WiFi miniport adapter. So I have a Question as 'Does Microsoft WiFi miniport adapter is available for windows 10?' Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter driver direct download was reported as adequate by a large percentage of our reporters, so it should be good to download and install. Installation Manager Success Stats: Reports Issued By 3905/4922 Users Success Reported By 2947/3905 Users. Browse the list below to find the driver that meets your needs. Tech Tip: If you are having trouble deciding which is the right driver, try the Driver Update Utility for Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter.It is a software utility that will find the right driver for you - automatically.

When a miniport driver is called to initialize a miniport adapter that it manages, it creates its own internal data structure to represent the miniport adapter. The driver uses this structure, referred to as the miniport adapter context, to maintain device-specific state information that the driver needs to manage the miniport adapter. The driver passes a handle to this structure to NDIS. For more information about specifying the miniport adapter context, see Initializing an Adapter.

When NDIS calls one of the miniport driver's MiniportXxx functions that pertains to a miniport adapter, NDIS passes the miniport adapter context to identify the correct miniport adapter to the driver. The miniport adapter context is owned and maintained by the miniport driver and is opaque to NDIS and to protocol drivers.

The Microsoft virtual wifi miniport adapter is a new feature in Windows 7, Wireless Hosted Network.

The only requirement for you to use it is to have a working wireless adapter.

Hello Vaidheeswaran,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community Forums.

1.Are you facing any issues while using wireless network?

2.Are you getting any error messages?

I would suggest you that if the wireless network is working correctly then you should not be concerned about the virtual adapter.

Please reply back if you still have any issues.

Regards,

Deepak.

I have tried numerous suggestions from Microsoft support staff and community members, but I have yet to get a permanent fix of the problems with Microsoft Wi-Fi Miniport adapter not working properly. Whether I power up or restart my ASUS laptop, I can't get a network connection without running the network diagnostic and clicking on 'Apply this fix.' That turns off the Intel wi-fi adapter that is factory-installed, and says it has 'turned on wireless capability', which was never turned off in any way by me. Then in the middle of doing something online, my connection suddenly disappears again and I have to run the network diagnostic again and apply the fix. If one is online for most of the day, this is a constant hassle. This is a TERRIBLE FEATURE that Microsoft needs to fix. I have tried to update the drivers, uninstall, run some suggested command lines to block it, and nothing has worked. Please someone tell me how to completely uninstall this permanently so that my Intel wi-fi adapter can work without being turned off by a persistent invader.
